Lamjung, Nepal – December 30, 2024 – The departmental team APF Football Club, Kathmandu, cruised into the quarterfinals of the 32nd Triveni Cup National Knockout Football Tournament with a commanding 5-0 victory over Saman Youth Club, Tanahun, on Monday. The match, held at sahaji Stadium, saw APF showcase their attacking brilliance as they easily dispatched their opponents to secure a place in the tournament's last eight.
The standout performance of the match came from Pradeep Lama, who scored a sensational hat-trick, completing the first hat-trick of the tournament. Lama opened the scoring in the 12th minute, added a second in the 30th, and sealed his treble with a third goal in the 55th minute. His clinical finishing put APF in control and left Saman Youth Club with little hope of a comeback.
Further extending APF's dominance, Sujan Kumar Pulami added a fourth goal in the 60th minute, while Suman Shrestha wrapped up the win with a fifth goal in the 76th minute, ensuring a comprehensive 5-0 scoreline.
With this win, APF has secured a quarterfinal clash against Machhindra Football Club, Kathmandu, in what promises to be an exciting encounter. The quarterfinal match is scheduled for 16th Push (January 1, 2025) at 11:30 AM.
In the other upcoming quarterfinals, Buddha Youth Club, Bhotebadar, will face Marsyangdi Youth Club, Besishahar, while Abhishek Church, Rajahar, will take on Sankata Football Club, Kathmandu.
The winners of the tournament, which is organized by Triveni Youth Club of Besishahar, Lamjung, will walk away with a cash prize of NRs 1.2 million along with the coveted title, while the runners-up will receive NRs 600,000. The grand final will be held on 20th Push (January 5, 2025).
