
Makwanpur (GoalNepal) - Despite the loss in the final, Sankata Club midfielder Suraj Jeu Thakuri has been awarded as the most valuable player of the concluded fifth Bagmati Gold Cup.
Suraj received Rs. 50,000 along with the award. Sankata lost the final to Bhutanese Youth Sports Club, USA on penalties after a 2-2 draw.
BYSC goalkeeper Pujan Thapa Magar was named the man of the match in the final after his spot-kick heroics. He was also named the best goalkeeper of the tournament.
Kuldeep Karki of Sankata was named the best defender, Sunil Bal was named the best midfielder while Prabin Basnet of BYSC was named the best striker.
BYSC coach Pradip Humagain was named the best coach of the tournament.
BYSC received eight lakhs along with the title while Sankata had to settle for four lakhs. Bagmati Rural Municipality Sports Development Committee organized the tournament.
