
Departmental team APF Football Club, Kathmandu has entered the quarterfinals of the ongoing 7th Bagmati Gold Cup National Knockout Football Tournament.
Despite being reduced to ten players on Sunday, APF defeated Hanami BFC, Chitwan in a tiebreaker to enter the last eight. The departmental team was reduced to ten players when APF's Pradeep Lama was sent off after receiving a red card in the 64th minute of the game. However, APF managed to play a goalless draw in the scheduled time.
In the tiebreaker, APF secured a quarterfinal spot by winning 3-1. APF goalkeeper Angel Shrestha was adjudged Man of the Match in the match.
The first quarterfinal match of the tournament will be played on Monday, Falgun 5, between Tribhuvan Army Football Club, Kathmandu and Church Boys United, Kathmandu, the organizers informed.
Organized by the Bagmati Rural Municipality Sports Development Committee, Jhurjhure, Makawanpur, the winner of the preliminary competition will receive a cash prize of Rs 1 million along with the title, while the runner-up will receive Rs 500,000. The final match will be held on Falgun 12.
