
Machhindra FC, which reached the final of the Itahari Gold Cup on Wednesday, has been eliminated from the first round of the Gambhir Rai Memorial Edition Bhadrapur Jhapa Gold Cup Football Tournament.
Machhindra, which is considered a contender for the title, has been ended by Jhapa 11 Football Club. With the win, Jhapa 11 has entered the quarterfinals. Jhapa 11 defeated Machhindra 1-0 in the second day's match held at Mechi Stadium in Bhadrapur today and entered the quarterfinals. Jhapa has forgotten the pain of the defeat it suffered against Machhindra in the Itahari Gold Cup.
Bobin Bohora scored the only goal for Jhapa in the 29th minute of the game. Bohora scored a one-touch goal on Aaron Thapa's cross pass. His goal was decisive. Jhapa will face Church Boys United in the quarterfinals.
Jhapa, which is preparing for the B Division League, has sent A Division League runners-up Machhindra home in the first match. The Player of the Match was Jhapa goalkeeper Limbu. He received a cash prize of Rs 21,000 along with a trophy.
The first quarter-final match on Friday will be between the hosts Bhadrapur Blazers and Nepal Police Club. The winner of the Gold Cup will receive a cash prize of Rs 1.3 million and the runner-up will receive a cash prize of Rs 700,000, a trophy and a medal.
The best player of the tournament will receive a cash prize of Rs 105,000. Similarly, the best goalkeeper, top scorer, emerging player and coach will receive a cash prize of Rs 25,000. The Player of the Match of each match will be given a cash prize of Rs 21,000.
