Football Association of Maldives (FAM) president Bassam Adil Jalil has been banned for nine months by FIFA, the highest body of world football.

Under FIFA's independent ethics committee, the judicial chamber banned Jalil from participating in any kind of international football activities for 9 years.

Allegations of corruption, financial irregularities, misappropriation of financial funds and others have been made against Jalil. Jalil was banned after conducting necessary investigations and investigations by FIFA and the local laws of the Maldives. In addition, FIFA has also announced that the ban on Jalil will be effective from Friday.
