New Star Club, Khopbadi defeated Satashidham SC 5-3 in the opener of First Buddha Shanti Challenge Cup at Hokse, Sanischare, Jhapa on Saturday.

With the win, New Star has moved to semifinals.

New Star received gift from opponent in the early 4th minute of the game as Satashidham scored in an own post.

Jonahang Rai struck a hat-trick as he scored in the 6th, 29th and 42nd minute of the match. Bijay Rai scored a goal in the 44th minute.

Sanjog Magar, Mandesh Rai and Roshan Khadka scored apiece for Satashidham in the 23rd, 26th and 31st minute of the match.

Hat-trick hero Rai was declared the man of the match.

Suryodaya XI, Fikaal will face Redstar FC, Birtamod on Sunday.

Hokse Yuwa Club and Budhabare Jaycees are jointly organizing the tournament in which a total of eight teams from Ilam and Jhapa are taking part.

Champions will take away fifty thousand rupees while runners-up will receive thirty thousand rupees.
