
Makwanpur (GoalNepal) - Sankata Club have qualified for the final of the fifth Bagmati Gold Cup in Makwanpur. Sankata defeated Makwanpur-11 2-0 in the second semifinal to reach the final.
In the match played at the Janata Ma Vi ground in Phaparbari, Makwanpur, Andre Thiery Byik scored a brace to put Sankata in the final. He scored in the 16th and 61st minutes of the match. Both goals were headers off a Sunil Bal corner. Byik was also named the player of the match.
Sankata will face the winners Bhutanese Youth Sports Club, USA, in the final in what'd be a repeat of the Aaha! Rara Pokhara Gold Cup final. Sankata won that final in extra time.
A total of ten teams participated in the tournament which includes seven A Division League sides, one foreign team and two local sides. The winners of the competition will receive a shield, medal and certificate along with cash of eight lakh rupees, while the runners-up will receive four lakh rupees.
Similarly, the organizers have said that a sports journalist with exemplary work in the field of sports will also be honored with cash of 15,000.
