Badakhal Jhapa district wide football championship got underway on Sunday.

Nawa Jyoti yuwa club defeated Ilam FC 4-3 on penalties in the opening match. The winning team has entered semifinals.

Both teams played had played 1-1 draw in regulation time.

Aashish Rai became the man of the match.

Munal FC Chandragadhi will meet against Dhulabari FC on Monday.

Nawa Jyoti yuwa club, Mechinagar 3 is organizing the championship, which has a winning purse of Rs 51,000.
