Kathmandu, December 24, 2024 – Police have emerged as the champions of the Lalit Smriti U-18 Youth League after defeating Church Boys 2-1 in a thrilling match on Tuesday at the ANFA Complex in Satdobato.

With this decisive victory, Police secured the title with a game to spare, finishing the league with 48 points from 21 games—seven points clear of second-placed NRT.

The match started with a bang as Police took the lead in the first minute, thanks to a quick strike from Vikram Gautam. The early goal set the tone for the game, and in the 48th minute, Police captain Subash Bam doubled the advantage with a clinical finish, making it 2-0.

Church Boys mounted a late fightback, and in the dying moments of the match, Nima Pakhrin pulled one back for Church Boys, scoring in injury time to make it 2-1. However, it wasn’t enough to deny Police their well-earned title.

With the victory, Police have now mathematically secured the championship, as no team can surpass their points total even if the remaining matches of the league produce identical results. NRT, in second place with 41 points, and Sankata, in third with 39 points, will now battle for second place in the final round of fixtures.

The Lalit Smriti U-18 Youth League, featuring 12 teams, is being played on a double round-robin basis, providing young players with a competitive platform to showcase their talent and skills.
