Eastpole has won the 13th Loyalty Cup Inter-School Football Tournament. In the final held at the host Loyalty Academy ground in Ektabasti, Eastpole defeated Little Angels 3-1 in a tiebreaker to become the new champion.
After the match ended in a 1-1 draw in regular time, the match was decided directly through a penalty shootout. Little Angels are the title winners of the tournament held in 2074, 2075 and 2076 BS. Espot took an early 1-0 lead through an own goal in regular time. Little Angels' Ayush Thapa scored a goal to tie the match 1-1.
Eastpole's Chhewang Lama, Sumit Karki and Rujan Tamang scored goals in the penalty shootout. Only Bijnanraj Bhandari managed to score a goal from Little Angels.
In the competition, Little Angels' Bijnanraj Bhandari was declared the best forward, Chelsea World School's Subash Tamang the best defender, Loyalty's Usum Thapa the best midfielder, Eastpole's Bibas Thing the best goalkeeper, and Eastpole's Sudarshan Ghimire the best coach.
Little Angels' Ayush Thapa, who scored 14 goals throughout the competition, topped the list of top scorers. Gateway Academy won the trophy for the unorganized team.
Kathmandu PABSON President Nawaraj Bhatta, Loyalty School Management Committee member Shreeram Chhetri, Loyalty Principal Birendra Kurumwang, Loyalty Vice Principal Hari Dahal and others presented awards at a program. 14 teams competed in the four-day competition on a league-cum-knockout basis.
