LA defeated Arunima 1-0 in the opening match of Malpi cup inter college football championship on Friday at Nepal Army physical centre, Lagankhel.

Prajwol Pun scored the mach winning goal.

In the second match, Gitanjali college defeated Santwona college 2-0. Manish Lamsal and Aashish Tamang scored apiece for the winners.

Malpi Institute played out 2-2 draw against KU City while DAV played 1-1 draw against Saipal academy.

Earlier ANFA technical director Chiaki Takeda and Nepal national team skipper Biraj Maharjan jointly inaugurated the championship.

16 teams are participating in the championship, which has a winning purse of Rs 1 lakh. Runners up team will get Rs 50,000.
