Ruslan Three Star Club toiled hard to beat spirited Nepal Police Club 4-3 on penalties to enter semifinals of 4th Mai Valley Gold Cup at Thulo Tudikhel, Ilam.

Goalie Alan Neupane blocked two spots kicks to hand Stars a memorable win.

Earlier both teams played 1-1 draw in regulation time.

Rejin Subba scored for NPC in 26th minute. Rejin Dhimal leveled the score for Stars in 84th minute.

Bimal G Magar, Rajin Dhimal, Rupesh KC, Nirajan Khadka converted their kicks in spot kick battle. Sunil Bal wasted his kick.

For NPC, Tej Tamang, Dinesh Rajbanshi and Rejin Subba could score but Suman Lama and Hem Tamang wasted their kicks.

Three Star Club goalie Alan Neupane bagged man of the match. He was awarded with Rs.10,000.

The match was stopped for six minutes after NPC coach Ananta Raj Thapa refused to leave field after getting marching orders.

Stars will play against Nepal APF Club in the second semifinal match on Baisakh 15.

MMC will face Nepal Army Club in the first semifinal match tomorrow.

Mai Valley FC is organizing the tournament which has a winning purse of Rs.6,66,666.
