Waling United Football Club from Syangja has advanced to the semi-finals of the 22nd Lisnu Cup Open Knockout Football Tournament.
In the third quarter-final held on Friday, Waling United secured a 3-1 victory over the Youth Sports and Cultural Family of Thutipipal, earning their spot in the final four.
Despite an early lead by Youth Sports, with Ayush Ghalan scoring in the 5th minute, Walling United equalized in the 35th minute through Bishwa Thapa. Sanjay Rana put Walling ahead with a goal in the 73rd minute, and Anish Thapa Magar sealed the win with a third goal in the 79th minute. Waling's Kshitij Raj was named Man of the Match.
The final quarter-final, featuring Palpa-11 against Jharna Sports Club of Kunjalapur, will be played on Saturday, as per match coordinator Krishna Gurung.
The Lisnu Cup, organized by the Lisnu Yuva Club in Tilottama-15, Kotihwa, will offer a cash prize of 325,000 to the winner and 165,000 to the runner-up. The tournament will culminate with the final match on Ashoj 3rd, featuring a total of 12 participating teams.
