Ria School of Naxal, Bright Horizon Children's Home of Matatirtha and Nepal APF School (A) of Kirtipur won the league stage match on Friday under the inter-school Inspector General of Armed Police Running Trophy Football Tournament 2080 held at Nepal APF School in Kirtipur, Kathmandu.
With Sohan Shrestha's goal, Rai School beat Sitapaila's Harati Shiksha Mandir 1-0. Aryanjung Thapa of Rai School was declared Man of the Match.
In the match where Jotish Bahadur Shahi scored 4 goals, Bright Horizon defeated Nepalaya Higher Secondary School of Kalanki by 8-0. Chakra Manyal 2, Vinod Gurung and Prabhash Shahi of the winning team scored 1 goal each. Chakra Manyal of the winning school was adjudged Man of the Match.
In the third match, APF defeated Modern Indian School in Chobhar by 3-0. APF's Tenzing Sherpa-2 and Rohit Gol scored 1 goal. Tenzing was named Man of the Match.
They were awarded the trophy by APF School Commander Armed Police Deputy Superintendent Rajendra Guragain, Extra Activities Coordinator Rajkumar Pyakurel and Team Manager Armed Police Deputy Inspector Dinesh Khadka.
In the competition, Sainik Residential Secondary School Sallaghari and Green Village Secondary School Kirtipur, Pushpasadan School and Laboratory Secondary School Kirtipur and Rai School Naxal and Nepali Public English School Jorpati will play on Saturday.
According to the organizers, in the competition, 19 teams from 17 schools in Kathmandu valley and one from Kavre district will be played on a league-less knockout basis. The competition, which has a prize of 50,000, will continue until Falgun 8.
