News Taplejung: Aatharai Rural Municipality Enters SFs

With a small margin of victory, Atharai Rural Municipality, Tehrathum has entered the semi-finals of the first Kanchenjunga Seselung Gold Cup Open Knockout Football Tournament held here.

In the third quarter-final held at Bhanujan Mavi Stadium on Friday, Athrai defeated Rara Football Club, Dhankuta by 1 goal against zero and managed to make it to the last four.

The only goal scored by Miham Limbu in the 53rd minute of the game became the decisive goal to win Atharai. Atharai goalkeeper Umesh Chaudhary was declared the man of the match. He received 5,000 cash and a medal as an award.

The organizers informed that the fourth and last quarterfinal match of the tournament will be played between BT Football Club, Tehrathum and Sagarmatha Youth Club, Morang on Saturday 7th January.

Sports coordinator Chandra Thebe said that the winner of the competition organized by Kanchenjunga Fungling Club, Fungling-4, Taplejung on the occasion of Chasok Tangnam festival will get 3 lakh 280 rupees in cash along with the title, while the runner-up will get 1 lakh 51 thousand 80 rupees. The final match of the tournament, in which a total of 8 teams are participating, will be held on the 11th of Poush.
