
Defending champions Tribhuwan Army FC have qualified for the final of the Local-level Martyr's Memorial Makwanpur Gold Cup 2079. Army defeated Avenir FC, Cameroon 11-10 on penalties to advance to the title bout two days from today.
The regulation time ended 1-1. Dinesh Henjan's goal at the start of the second half. But Army conceded the equaliser in the final minutes of the match for the second match running. Djika scored in the dying minutes of the match and pushed the match to penalties.
14, yes 14 penalties were taken by each side in the shootout. And Army emerged victorious at last.
Dinesh Henjan of TAFC was named the player of the match and received Rs. 10,000.
Army will now face Bijay Youth Club in the final. This is the second successive final between the two sides in Makwanpur. Bijay Youth Club defeated Nepal Police Club yesterday to advance to the final.
The winner of the competition will get Rs 15 lakhs in cash along with the title while the runner-up will get Rs 10 lakhs. Similarly, those who excel in the individual category will also be given Rs 25,000 cash and a trophy each. The best player in the competition will get a motorcycle sponsored by the Hetauda School of Management.
A total of 12 teams including top clubs of the country are participating in the competition
