
Diwas Chhantyal of Khumaltar Youth Club was named the player of the match in the Local-level Martyr's Memorial Makwanpur Gold Cup 2079 fixture against Nepal Police Club despite the loss. Police defeated Khumaltar Youth Club 2-1 to make their way to the quarterfinals of the tournament.
In a rain-soaked matchup, Nepal Police Club scored two goals in the first ten minutes of the match through Abhishek Rijal and Bharat Saha. Khumaltar improved their gameplay after conceding two goals.
Khumaltar pulled one back goal in the second half through Diwas Chhantyal but Khumaltar fell short.
The winner of the competition will get Rs 15 lakhs in cash along with the title while the runner-up will get Rs 10 lakhs. Similarly, those who excel in the individual category will also be given Rs 25,000 cash and a trophy each.
The best player in the competition will get a motorcycle sponsored by the Hetauda School of Management.
A total of 10 teams including top clubs of the country will participate in the competition.
