Nepal APF FC have qualified for the quarterfinals of the Local-level Martyr's Memorial Makwanpur Gold Cup 2079. APF defeated Friends Club 3-0 to advance to the quarterfinals at the Piple Stadium in Hetauda.
The match which was postponed yesterday due to water accumulation on the pitch saw APF skipper Nabin Lama opened the scoring for APF in the first half from the spot after he was brought down in the box. Sabin Gurung doubled the lead in the second half and Rabi Thing rounded off the win with a goal in the dying minutes of the match.
Pradip Lama was named the player of the match and received Rs. 10,000 in cash.
APF will now face Nepal Army FC in the quarterfinals.
Khumaltar Youth Club and Nepal Police Club will face each other in the second match of the day today at 4:00 PM.
The winner of the competition will get Rs 15 lakhs in cash along with the title while the runner-up will get Rs 10 lakhs. Similarly, those who excel in the individual category will also be given Rs 25,000 cash and a trophy each.
The best player in the competition will get a motorcycle sponsored by the Hetauda School of Management.
A total of 10 teams including top clubs of the country will participate in the competition.
