News Tamu Lhosar Gold Cup Women's Football: Hosts Birtamod Beaten On Penalties

With a win in the tiebreaker vs hosts Birtamod, Damak's Royal Sporting Club has qualified for the semifinals of the Tamu Lhosar Gold Cup International Women's Knockout Football Tournament.

In a match held at Domalal Rajbanshi Stadium, Damak goalkeeper Sajiya Chhetri saved two strikes. She stopped the spot kicks of Birtamod's Anu Rai and Sunkala Rai.

For Birtamod, captain Khusma Rai and Sunita Ghalan converted their spot kicks while Damak's Chhatrika Chaudhary, Sanju Rai, Ema Chamlagain and Mamata Raut concerted their kicks.

Both teams played a goalless draw in the ninety minutes and the match was sent to a penalty shootout. Both teams were equally matched in the first half, but the hosts were dominating more in the second half. Kusum Khatiwada, who recently played for Nepal in the SAFF U-19 Women's Championship couldn't make her mark and the hosts couldn't capitalise.

Damak goalkeeper Sajiya Chhetri was declared the player of the match and was rewarded with cash by Birtamod Football Club president DK Gurung.

The winner of this second edition of the tournament will receive Rs. 1,11,111 while the runners-up will receive Rs. 51,111 along with trophy, medals and certificates. This tournament is being organized on the occasion of Gurung community's festival, Tamu Lhosar.
