The first round of the 7th Biren Memorial 17th BT Cup Open Football Tournament organized by Buddhatol Youth (BT) Club has been completed.
Malepatan Youth Club defeated Masina Bagar by 2-1 in the first match held on (Friday) at Pokhara Metropolitan City 1, Old Tundikhel.
In the second match, Maxwell Pokhara defeated Chaunthe FC by 4-2 and Maxwell entered the next round. In the third match, Eight to Nine defeated Mero Nepal by 1-0 & entered the second round.
In the fourth match, Tara FC beat Pasgaun FC by 4-0. Apex defeated Bhimkali by 5-4 in the tiebreaker after the fifth match between Bhimkali Team 'B' and Apex Club ended goalless.
In the sixth match, Namaste Brothers won the doctors' team with a wide margin of 5-0 goals. According to Asim Thapa, the president of the club, second round matches have been completed today.
Nadipur United and Shuklaganga Club Hemja ended with a 1-1 draw in regulation time but it was Nadipur who won the match on pens to enter last 16.
President Thapa informed that 8 matches of the second phase will be conducted on Saturday as well. The winning team from the second round will enter the pre-quarterfinals. A total of 56 teams are participating in the competition.
The winner of the competition will receive 1,71,111 rupees in cash, certificate with shield and medal. Similarly, the runner-up will receive a certificate with 105555 rupees, shield and medal.
