Lionel Messi and Aitana Bonmati are on top of the world after their triumphs at The Best FIFA Football Awards™ 2023 – but who voted for them as the winners of The Best Men's and Women’s Player prizes?
The awards were voted for by national team coaches and captains, as well expert journalists and fans on FIFA.com, with the winners revealed at a glittering London ceremony on 15 January.
Ederson and Mary Earps won the goalkeeping prizes, while Pep Guardiola and Sarina Wiegman took the coaching honours.
National team captains including Mbappe, Harry Kane and Mohamed Salah were among those to pick Messi as their Best Men’s Player. As Argentina captain, Messi also voted in the awards, although he could not select himself. Powerhouse Norwegian striker Haaland was his number-one choice ahead of Mbappe and compatriot Julian Alvarez.
