
Panchkanya Football Club, based in Udaipur, got off to a winning start in the 6th edition of the Prakashpur Challenge Cup, an event organized by Prakashpur Football Club in Barahkshetra-10, Prakashpur, Sunsari.
In the tournament's opening match at the Prakash Mavi Stadium in Barah Kshetra-10, Prakashpur, Panchkanya secured a victory by triumphing over Indreni Club from Barah Kshetra, Sunsari, with a 5-3 scoreline in a dramatic penalty shootout.
Prior to the shootout, both teams had played to a goalless draw during the regulation time. Anish Rai, representing Panchkanya, was honored as the Man of the Match for his standout performance. He was rewarded with a cash prize of 1500 and a trophy. This triumph also earned Panchkanya a place in the semi-finals.
The tournament's organizers have announced that the second quarter-final match will take place on Sunday, October 21, featuring Prakashpur Football Club and Ramdhuni Yuva Club.
The opening ceremony of the competition was graced by Tej Bahadur Gurung, Ward Chairman of Barahkshetra Municipality Ward No. 10, along with other distinguished guests. Generously sponsored by the Barahkshetra Municipal Sports Development Committee, Sunsari, and the Barahkshetra Municipality Ward No. 10 office, the competition promises substantial rewards.
The champions will walk away with a cash prize of 100,000, while the runners-up will receive 50,000. The grand finale of this tournament, featuring a total of 8 participating teams, is scheduled for October 27th.
