Nepal are into the final of SAFF Women's Championship. In the second semifinal, Nepal defeated five-time winners India 1-0 to book their place in the final.
Nepal took the lead towards the end of the first half. Preeti Rai went on a run on the right flank and played a grounded cross to Rashmi around the penalty spot. Rashmi put the ball to the far corner with composure. And that goal proved to be enough for Nepal to beat India
Nepal were on the upper hand in the second half as well. But India had their share of ball possession. But both teams couldn't capitalise on their chances and the second half ended goalless.
This is Nepal's first victory against India in SAFF Women's Championship history.
Nepal will now face Bangladesh in the final. With India out of the tournament, there will be new winners crowned in the SAFF Women's Championship. This is Nepal's fifth final in tournament history while Bangladesh will be playing only their second final.
The final will be played on Monday, September 19. The match will kick off at 5:30 PM at the Dasharath Stadium.
