First Gaidahawa President Cup Open Knockout Football Tournament started in Rupandehi's Gaidahawa Municipality on Saturday.

In the opening match held at local sports ground in Gaidahawa-8, Devinagar, Kapilbastu defeated Bishwashanti Youth Club, Saljhandi by 2-0 to start the campaign.

Sanju Sen and Sunil Chhetri scored a goal each to give Kapilbastu the win. Kapilbastu's Aashish Pun was adjudged the player of the match. Kapilbastu has progress to the semifinals with this victory

On Sunday, in the second semi-final, Murgiya FC will face off against Darshan Youth Club Jalaiya.

Earlier, the competition was inaugurated by Gaidahawa village municipality chairman Bacchulal Kewat. Among the guests present on the occasion were Everest Youth Club President Padam Bahadur Magar, Gaidahawa Village Municipality Vice President Subavati Yadav, Chief Administrative Officer Chiranjivi Ghimire and Gaidahawa Village Municipality Ward No. 8 Chairman Bhuwan Bahadur Rana.

The winner of the competition organized by New Everest Youth Club and under the patronage of Gaindhawa village will get Rs 1,11,111 including the title while the runner-up will get Rs 55,555, according to the organizers. The final match of the competition will be played on January 1st.
