
Gaighat Football Club, Udayapur has won the Koshi Province Premier League football tournament. On Thursday, in the final match of the Super League round, Gaighat defeated Panchthar United Football Club, Panchthar by a wide margin of 11-0.
Ritesh Tamang scored five goals and Pabin Rai scored four goals in Gaighat's victory. Similarly, Devraj Chaudhary and Yubaraj Thapa scored 1-1 goals each. Ritesh Tamang of Gaighat, who scored five goals in the match, was named Man of the Match.
In another match held on Thursday, Buipa Eleven Football Club, Khotang, defeated Deurali Youth Football Club, Dhankuta 3-1. Dicken Rai scored a hat-trick for Buipa Eleven, while Bipin Limbu scored a goal for Deurali. Diken Rai of Buipa Eleven, who scored a hat-trick in the match, was named Man of the Match.
The winner, Gaighat, received a cash prize of Rs 200,000 along with the title. Deurali, who secured the second place, received Rs 150,000, while Buipa XI, who secured the third place, received Rs 125,000. Similarly, Panchthar United, who came fourth, received Rs 100,000.
In terms of category, Nim Tshiring Sherpa of Gaighat was named the best goalkeeper, while Ramsur Rai of Buipa XI was named the best defender. Bipin Limbu of Deurali was named the best midfielder, while Pabin Rai of Gaighat was named the best forward. Kiran Kumar Karki of Gaighat was also named the best coach. All received Rs 15,000 each.
Similarly, Yubaraj Thapa of Gaighat was declared the best player of the competition. He received Rs 50,000 in cash and a trophy for that. The chief guest of the closing ceremony, Krishna Basnet, Member-Secretary of the Provincial Sports Development Board, Biratnagar, and others awarded the winning teams and players.
