
In the 24th Budhasubba Gold Cup International Invitational Knockout Football Tournament, the host Dharan Football Club has made a winning start.
In the opening match, Dharan got off to a winning start by defeating UKFC, India in sudden death. After the match ended in a 1-1 tie, the match was decided by a tiebreaker.
Even in the tie breaker, Dharan won 10-9 against UKFC in sudden death and managed to secure the semi-final spot.
Milan Rai scored for Dharan while Nayan Pradhan scored for UKFC. Dharan's goalkeeper Sachin Shrestha was declared man of the match.
Under the competition, the second quarterfinal match on Sunday, will be between New Road Team (NRT) and Tribhuvan Army Football Club, the organizers informed.
Organized by Dharan Football Club, Dharan, the winner of the inaugural tournament will receive 10 lakhs in cash along with the title, while the runner-up will receive 5 lakhs. The final match will be held on 3rd of Chaitra.
