
The Morang-based Letang FC has advanced to the semifinals of the second Triveni Invitational Gold Cup, which is currently taking place in Fuyetappa, Fakphokthum-4, Ilam.
Letang qualified for the semifinals by defeating organizers Triveni Yuwa Bikas Sanstha, Ilam on penalties in the third quarterfinal at Bishnu Ma.Vi.
The tiebreaker was chosen with the consent of both the teams as the game could not be played due to unfavorable weather. Both teams played a goalless draw in the first half of the scheduled time. However, the second half could not be held due to heavy fog.
In the tiebreaker chosen for the decision, Letang won 5-3. Captain and goalkeeper Anjit Shrestha, Modi Rai, Sagar BK, Sundar Limbu and Pawan Shrestha scored for Letang.
For the organizers, only strikes by Binod Dhamala, Bishal Chhetri and Karan Magar went in, while Bishal Ghalan's strike came out and Letang secured a place in the last four. The organizer's Karan Magar was declared the player of the match. He received 2,000 rupees in cash.
The winner of the Gold Cup organized by Triveni Youth Development Organization, Fuyetappa will get Rs. 2,00,000 and the runners-up will get Rs 1,00,000 in cash.
Rising Star FC, Panchthar and Pathari FC, Morang will face each other tomorrow.
