
Ward No. 2 has advanced to the fourth Mayor's Cup Knockout Football Tournament quarterfinals. Ward No. 2 advanced to the quarterfinals by defeating Ward No. 12 5-4 in sudden death on Friday.
Both teams had drawn 1-1 in regulation time at the Saraswati Ma.Vi. ground earlier. Ward No. 2 took the lead in the third minute of the game thanks to a goal by Mahananda Rajbanshi, but they lost the lead in the second half.
Harshit Chaudhary scored the equalizer for Ward No. 12 in the 74th minute. Ward No. 12 was, however, defeated on penalties. Toppo of Ward No. 12 was named Player of the Match. Khushi Lal Chaudhary, the chief guest, presented him with a cash prize of Rs 2,000 and a medal.
Ward No. 5 and Ward No. 9 will face off tomorrow, according to the organizers. The winner of the competition, which was organized by the Municipality of Duhabi in collaboration with the Eleven Arrows Club, will receive Rs. 1,01,000.
