St. Xavier’s Godavari A team has won the title of 6th Fr. Starr memorial invitational primary level girls 7-A-Side championship in Lalitpur.

St. Xavier’s Godavari defeated St. Xaviers Jawalakhel A team 1-0 in the final match played on Monday.

Father Samuel Simick, SJ, the Principal, Father. David Ekka, SJ, the Superior and Mr. Sher Jung Gurung gave away trophies, medals and certificates to the winners and runners-up.

Nine teams took part in the event.

Fr. Starr Memorial Invitational Primary School Girls Football Tournament was founded in 2011 A.D. by St. Xavier's School, Godavari in memory of Father Allan B. Starr, S.J. who was the superior of this school. It is a primary level football tournament in which only the girl students currently studying in class 1 to 5 in the participating school are eligible and participants must be below 11 years and 6 months of age with a height below 5 feet without shoes.

The theme of the tournament is “Come Together, Play Together” with the aim of developing football skills among the young girls at the same time promoting good sportsmanship.
