Komal Maya - Khadga Basnet Memorial Cup got underway at Palati, Angeri Pakha, Sindhupalchowk on Wednesday.

Melamchi municipality defeated Bhotekoshi rural municipality 4-0 in the opening match. 

Sajan Majhi scored a hat trick (1’ 42’, 46’) while Yubaraj Dhakal scored another fit the winners. 

Hat trick hero Majhi became the player of the match.

Barahbise municipality will play against lisankhu pakhar rural municipality at 9:30 AM and Sunkoshi rural municipality will meet Balefi at 2 PM NST.

Nepali Congress central sports department is organizing the championship.

Teams from Sindhupalchowk are taking part in the event, which is organized in memory of late Komal Maya & Khadga Basnet.

Earlier, former minister & Nepali congress leader Mohan Bahadur Basnet, ANFA president Karma Tsering Sherpa and other distinguished officials inaugurated the championship.
