Bardiya district wide football championship got underway at Syali Bazar, Bardiya on Saturday.

Geruwa rural municipality defeated Badhaiyatal rural municipality 1-0 in the opening match.

Binit Nepali scored the match winner in 47th minute.

Earlier, MP Sanjaya Kumar Gautam inaugurated the championship, which has a winning purse of Nrs 1 lakh.
