Nepal Ice Deumai gold cup got underway at Mangalbare, Ilam on Saturday.

Red Star Birtamod defeated Triveni youth club, Deumai 2-1 in the opening match. They entered semifinals with the win.

Bishal Tamang became the man of the match and got Nrs 2500.

Earlier, senior NCP leader Subash Nembang inaugurated the championship. ANFA central committee member Niroj Khadgi was also present in the program.

Triveni youth club is organizing the championship, which has a winning purse of Nrs 2,22,222.

Runners up team will get Nrs 1,11,111.

Eight teams are taking part in the event.

The teams are New Star Club Sunsari, Friends club Kathmandu, Red Star Birtamod, Urlabari FC Morang, Sikkim United FC, Munal Club Jhapa, Red Horse Ilam, Triveni club.
