News 4th Mai Valley Gold Cup: Nepal Police Club Into QFs

Two late goals rescued Nepal Police Club against Durgapur Steel FC, Kolkata at Thulo Tudikhel, Ilam on Sunday to secure its place in the last sixteen of 4th Mai Valley Gold Cup.

Rejin Subba, Suman Lama and Ravi Paswan scored goal each to register 3-1 victory against the Kolkata based team.

Super sub Rejin Subba brilliantly finished the ball into the net in the 36th minute to provide lead to his team. Durgapur Steel FC levelled the score just before going for half time as Saugaun scored in a free kick.

Cops worked hard to take lead in the second half but their hard work finally paid off in the 90+1 minute when NPC was awarded a spot kick after Nir Kumar Rai was brought inside box by Emmaunaul. Suman Lama directed the spot-kick inside the post leaving opponent goalie stunned. Two minutes later, Ravi Paswan sealed 3-1 victory for Cops.



Rejin Subba was declared the man of the match. He received Rs.10,000.

NPC will play next against Three Star Club in the last quarterfinal match on Baisakh 13.

Hosts Mai Valley FC will face Manang Marshyangdi Club in the first quarterfinal match tommorow.

Mai Valley FC is organizing the tournament that has a winning purse of Rs 6,66,666.

NPC first XI: Roshan Khadka(GK), Rabin Shrestha(C), Suman Lama, Prezen Tamang, Ravi Paswan, Nir Kumar Rai, Hem Tamang, Tej Tamang, Santosh Hemroon, Ajit Bbhandari, Dinesh Rajbanshi.
