Jhapa 11 FC has been eliminated from the semi-finals of the Jhapa Gold Cup for the first time. Jhapa 11 was eliminated after losing to Church Boys United in the ongoing 6th Jhapa Gold Cup.

Church Boys, who participated in the Jhapa Gold Cup for the first time, stunned Jhapa 11 with a 4-3 goal difference in the tie breaker and made their way to the finals. In the scheduled 90 minutes and extra 14 minutes, both teams played a goalless draw.

With the Church Boys entering the finals, the champion of the Jhapa Gold Cup in this edition has been decided by the new team. Earlier, after defeating Tribhuvan Army FC 1-0, APF FC advanced to the title race.

In the tiebreaker, Church Boys' Suraj Jiu Thakuri, Vijay Bhujel, Abayomi Aluwaseun Fakunle and goalkeeper and captain Deep Karki scored decisive goals to take the team to the final. Church Boys' Serge Dicka's shot was saved by Jhapa's goalkeeper Sudip Limbu.

Aditya Shakya, Vivek Paudel and Ashish Chapagai's shots turned into goals, but Pradeep Budhathoki's shot hit the post. Likewise, goalkeeper Deep Karki saved foreign player Mark Junior Harrison's shot.

Even though both teams created some scoring opportunities in the scheduled 90-minute match, they could not make use of it.

Both teams remained pale in the first half. They couldn't create enough goal scoring opportunities. Church Boys' goalkeeper Deep Karki became the player of the match. He received a prize of 11,000 rupees along with a medal.

Jhapa has been far away from the title despite reaching the final in all the previous five editions. Out of five previous editions, four editions have been won by Army and one edition by Manang Masryangdi Club.

In the post match conference, Jhapa coach Angur Kumar Khadgi expressed his displeasure with the referee's decision.

Church Boys coach Ruben Rai responded that the game was better than expected. He said that despite being a new team after the A Division League, the performance was memorable. Stating that no new players will be added, he said that the meeting with APF will be interesting.

The final match of the Gold Cup will be held on Falgun 28. While the winner will receive an attractive trophy with 13 lakhs in cash, the runner-up will have to settle for 7 lakhs in cash.
