Chakraghatti Football Club, Sunsari has made a winning start in the 1st Kanchenjunga Seselung Gold Cup Open Knockout Football Tournament which started from Wednesday.

In the opening match at Bhanujan Mavi's playground, Chakraghatti got off to a winning start by defeating the host Kanchenjunga Fangling Club, Taplejung 2-1. Akash Rai scored both goals in Chakraghatti's win. Anup Sendang scored a goal for Kanchenjunga, who were defeated there.

Chakraghatti's Akash Rai was declared Man of the Match. He received 5,000 cash and a medal as an award. With this win, Chakraghatti has also entered the semi-finals.

As part of the competition, the second quarter-final match on Thursday, January 5, will be played between Panchthar Football Club, Panchthar and Jalthal Football Club, Jhapa. Before that, the competition was inaugurated by the chief guest Amir Maden, Mayor of Fungling Municipality, Taplejung.

The winner of the inaugural competition organized by Kanchenjunga Fungling Club, Fungling-4, Taplejung on the occasion of Chasok Tangnam festival will receive 3 lakh 280 rupees in cash along with the title, while the runner-up will get 1 lakh 51 thousand 80 rupees, according to sports coordinator Chandra Thebe. The final match of the tournament, in which a total of 8 teams are participating, will be held on the 11th of January.
