Defending Champions Sunaulo Sangam has secured semifinal berth in 3rd Madan Bhandari Gold Cup football tournament.

Sunaulo Sangam defeated Nepal APF 3-1 on penalties in the second quarterfinal match played at Manbigyan high school ground, Ramnagar, Butwal on Tuesday.

The teams played 2-2 draw in the regulation time to push the match to spot kick battle.

APF had taken lead through Yubraj Khadka in the 43rd minute. Amrit Gurung levelled the score in the 54th minute.

Khadka again put his team ahead in the 67th minute but Ashish Gurung equalized the tally in the 72nd minute.

Nitin Thapa Magar of Sunaulo Sangam became the man of the match.

Ruslan Three Star Club will play against Himalayan FC, Malaysia on Wednesday.

10 teams are participating in the championship, which has a winning purse of Rs 15 lakh.
