In a captivating display of football prowess, New Youth Union Club from Tansen, Palpa, has secured a spot in the finals of the prestigious Jyotipunj Cup Open Knockout Football Tournament.

In the gripping second semi-final clash that unfolded on Saturday, New Youth Union Club edged closer to tournament glory by triumphing over Farsatikar Yuva Club, Rupandehi, in a dramatic sudden-death showdown. Prior to this thrilling conclusion, both teams engaged in a fiercely competitive battle, resulting in a 1-1 draw.

Biki Chamling Rai notched a crucial goal for Farsatikar, while Sabi Gurung delivered the equalizing strike for New Youth Union. With the tiebreaker failing to yield a decisive outcome, New Youth Union eventually emerged victorious in the sudden-death phase, prevailing 7-6. Sabi Gurung, representing New Youth Union, was rightfully recognized as the "Man of the Match" for his outstanding contributions.

The grand finale, scheduled for Sunday, October 28th, will witness New Youth Union locking horns with the host team, Jyotipunj Yuva Club, as they vie for the coveted championship title. Sudip Gautam, President of the organizing club, revealed that the tournament winner, conducted under the patronage of Rampur Municipality, Palpa, and Jyotipunj Youth Club, Rampur-7, Palpa, will be awarded a cash prize of 1 lakh 55 thousand, along with the championship trophy. Meanwhile, the runner-up will receive 1 lakh 5 thousand in recognition of their commendable performance.
