Madan Bhandari sports thrashed Far West XI 5-1 in the opener of Madan Bhandari gold cup football tournament in Butwal on Friday.

Hosts team appeared in the field with most of the Sankata club players.

Prakash Budhathoki scored opener for Madan Bhandari in 16th minute. Pranaya Anjan leveled the score before going to half time.

Budhathoki doubled the tally in 64th minute. Cedric Aba scored third goal while Bishwo Adhikari and Dipesh Ale scored apiece for the winners.

Budhathoki became the man of the match.

Jhapa XI will take on Nepal APF on Saturday.

The champions will get Rs 15 lakh whereas runners up team will get Rs 7,50,000.
