News 17 Players Called Up For The National Team Closed Camp

Nepali national football team head coach Abdullah Almutairi has called up 17 new players for closed training, ANFA have announced. Almutairi has given the opportunity to 17 new players after 10 players in closed camp left the training expressing dissatisfaction with the working style of Almutairi.

The added 17 players have already started training on Thursday. The newly called up players mostly include players from the departmental sides.

The national team is currently in closed camp in preparation for the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers. Nepal has been placed in Group A of the qualifiers alongside Jordan, Kuwait, and Indonesia. Nepal's first match is against Jordan on June 8, followed by a match against Kuwait on June 11. On June 14, Nepal will face Indonesia in the final group match. Kuwait will host all of the matches in Group A. The top placed teams in each group along with the five best runners-up will qualify for the Asian Cup to be held in China next year.

Nepal is also scheduled to play two friendlies against Afghanistan on May 25 and 29.
