
Hosts Bagmati Youth Club have qualified for the semifinals of the sixth Rajarshi Janak Cup going on in Sarlahi. They registered a hard-fought 1-0 victory over New Road Team to make it to the final four.
In a difficult outing for Bagmati, Jamoul Anthony scored the only goal of the match. Jamoul directed the ball to the goal post in the opportunity given by NRT defender Shiva Gurung while clearing the ball.
Goalkeeper Manoj Pradhan of Bagmati thwarted some good opportunities created by NRT in a competitive game. The home fans were disappointed as many attack from Bagmati could not take the direction of the goal post.
Goalscorer Anthony was named the player of the match and received Rs. 10,000 cash.
Machhindra FC and Avenir FC, Cameroon will face each other in the final quarterfinal tomorrow.
Bagmati Municipality and Bagmati Youth Club are jointly organizing the tournament, which has a winning purse of Rs. 10 lakh.
