Martyr’s Memorial A Division League round six of matches were something to remember for the ones following this season closely. From last minute belters to surprising wins, this week proved to be arguably the best round of matches so far this season. Here’s how the matches went this matchweek in the Nepali top division.

APF 3-3 NRT

The very first match of this matchweek was a cracker with two evenly matched sides and six goals scored. Aashish Lama continued his fine form with APF while Dipesh Dhimal and Nabin Lama were in among goals for the departmental outfit. A Darshan Gurung double and a scalp for Messouke made sure NRT stay eighth on the table with seven points. APF are 11th with just five points. 

Police 0-0 Friends

The goalless draw voodoo continued into the sixth matchweek as Police and Friends played a goalless draw in the second match of the first day of matchweek six. With a point gained by each team, Friends stay plumb last, winless so far with just three points gathered from a possible 18. Police, who have also not had the best of seasons are currently 10th with six points.

Himalayan Sherpa 3-1 Chyasal

High spending Chyasal tried something different this week with a different approach and different tactics in their attempt to climb out of the relegation zone but couldn’t do as well as they would have liked. They lost 3-1 to the Mountaineers. Mutamba Pistone continued his brilliant goalscoring run with a brace and Suresh Kumal scored another for them. Rumesh Bartaula pulled one back for Chyasal. Chyasal stay 13th on the table with just four points while Himalayan Sherpa have climbed to sixth with eight points.

MMC 0-1 Machhindra

The biggest match of the league so far, proved out to be a spectacle for the fans, not because of the display both teams put up for the ninety minutes but in the way it finished. In the race to getting that AFC Cup berth at the end of the seventh round, Macchindra toppled Manang thanks to a wonderful free-kick from Sunil Bal in the second minute of injury time. Machhindra, with this goal, take matters into their own hands to find a place in the AFC Cup next year. Manang are now down to second with 13 points while Machhindra climb to the top with a point more.

Sankata 3-0 BBC

Sankata Club have been a revelation this season with the display they have been putting up with the command of Bishnu Gurung at the helm this term. And this matchweek was no different. They beat Brigade Boys 3-0 with a scintillating display in the first half. Uttam Rai scored a brace while Laxman Ruchal added another for the Kathmandu outfit to take their team to third, ahead of Army with 12 points on board, just two off the top. BBC are 12th, just a point away from the drop zone.

Stars 0-0 Army

A goalless yet exciting match under lights between Stars and Army left both teams frustrated. With a lackluster season so far, both teams have not been able to sail smoothly six matches into the season. With a point apiece, Army have been toppled by Sankata in the league table as Army are now fourth with 10 points. The Stars, on the other hand, are seventh with seven points.

Satdobato 0-2 Jawalakhel

Jawalakhel Youth Club made it two wins in a row against Satdobato in what was a somehow surprising result after not scoring a single goal in first four matches. Nicholas Fernandes and Bipin Kandel scored for Jawalakhel as they climb to ninth in the table with seven points. Meghraj KC’s Satdobato are fifth with eight points.
