News Pathari Sporting Bags The Title Of Damak Ward Chairman's Cup

Pathari Sporting have clinched the title of Ward Chairman's Cup, Damak. In the final on Sunday, Pathari defeated the hosts Damak Ward No.3 5-3 to win the title.

With the match ending 1-1 in scheduled time, the match was pushed to penalties. Pathari's goalkeeper Arjun Basnet saved Ganesh Hemran's spot kick to clinch the title.

In the 27th minute, the hosts took the lead through Saurav Limbu but they were unable to hold on to the lead in the dying minutes of the match. In the injury time towards the end of the match, Pathari's Bishal Pandey equalised to take the match to the shootout.

In the shootout, Simon Limbu, Niraj Pariyar (Kauli), Yogesh Tamang, Manjil Khadka and Niman Limbu scored for Pathari while Suman Rai, Bishal Darji and Saurabh Limbu could only score for Damak.

Pathari bagged Rs. 1,11,000 while runners-up Damak took home Rs. 55000. Pathari's Niraj Pariyar ended the tournament as the highest goalscorer, Lal Bahadur Limbu was named the best coach. Hosts' Yogesh Dhimal was named the best goalkeeper, Bikram Limbu was named best defender, Paras Karki was named best midfielder, Pritam Karki was named the emerging player while Ajay Mandal was named the player of the tournament.

The winners were awarded by ward chairman of Damak-3 along with other guests.
