A conflict has emerged between the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) and the referees on the eve of the third phase of the renowned Martyrs' Memorial A Division League.

A total of 14 referees have resigned, claiming that the ANFA has established binding standards for referee fitness examinations. The referees have indicated that they will not participate in the ongoing A Division League as a result of their resignation.

The referees addressed the ANFA president and presented a letter of resignation at the collective resignation on Thursday. According to rumors, ANFA made fitness exams mandatory for all referees during the current competition.

The referees, on the other hand, believe that the fitness test should not be administered while the league is in progress. The referees, however, are said to have quit after ANFA reaffirmed its verdict.

FIFA referees, FIFA assistant referees, and national referees have all resigned in unison. Prakash Nath Shrestha, Nabindra Maharjan, Prajjwal Chhetri, Naniram Thapa Magar, Sahadev Chhetri, and Kishan Yadav are among those who have resigned.

Referees used to be subjected to annual fitness exams by the ANFA. However, after Gautam Kaur was named referee director, he made it a rule to examine the referees' fitness every three months.

The league's third phase of games begins on Friday. On the eve of that, after the referees resigned en masse, it is clear that the league will face difficulties. It's unclear what action ANFA will take in this regard.
