
By winning their respective games in the ongoing Itahari Running Cup ward-level football tournament, Ward No. 2 and Ward No. 16 have advanced to the quarterfinals.
Ward No. 2 won the first match at the Regional Stadium in Itahari on Tuesday, defeating Ward No. 8 2-1. Ward No. 8 took an early lead but eventually lost the game. Biren Bhujel's goal gave Ward No. 8 the lead in the eighth minute.
In the 37th minute, Bibek Rai equalized for Ward No. 2, and Sajiwan Rai scored the game-winning goal in the 52nd minute. Sajiwan Rai, who scored the game-winning goal, was also named Man of the Match. The chief guest, Secretary of Our Veterans Club, and former national player Diwas Rai, presented him with a mobile phone.
In the second match, Ward No. 16 defeated Ward No. 4 2-0 to advance to the quarterfinals. Ward 16 got goals from Abhishek Bishwakarma in the 21st minute and Dhaneshwar Sharma in the 62nd minute. Ward No. 16's Abhishek Bishwakarma was named Man of the Match. He also received a mobile phone as a reward.
On Wednesday, Wards No. 1 and 5 will compete in the first match, while Wards No. 3 and 6 will compete in the second match.
The winner of the competition will receive 50,000 rupees in addition to the title, while the runner-up will receive 30,000 rupees.
On December 6, the final will be played.
