Nepal women's team coach Gary Phillips said qualifiers against Philippines & Hong Kong is big opportunity to Nepalese football.
The qualifiers is starting from tomorrow in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Three teams, Nepal, Philippines & Hong Kong are taking part in the qualifiers. One team will qualify for AFC Asian women's cup India 2022.
"This is an opportunity to Nepalese football. Not just the promotion but the players have opportunity to showcase their talent. The team is energized with some new and young players and we hope to do well in the qualifiers", said Philipps in the pre-match conference.
Nepal is grouped with Hong Kong & philippines in the qualifiers. AFC changed the venue from Kathmandu to Tashkent due to COVID issues.
Meanwhile, HK coach Jose Ricardo Rambo said they had prepared well for the qualifiers. Phillipines coach Marion Maro said they couldn't train together for a longer period but they hoped to perform better.
Nepal will play their first match against Philippines on September 18 while they meet Hong Kong on September 21. Hong Kong will play against Philippines on September 24.
The match timing is 3 PM loal time i.e, 3:45 PM NST.
The matches will be played at JAR stadium, Tashkent.
The winner of the group will secure their place in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022, scheduled to take place from January 20 to February 6.
