News Kaski: Sahara Club Wins Title Of 6th Sangam Cup

Sahara Club has won the title of 6th edition of Sangam Cup Football on Friday in Pokhara. They defeated B13 team in sudden death.

Both the teams couldn’t score goals in 80 minutes of regular time and even in the added 20 minutes and the game was forced into penalty shootout. Even on penalty shootout, both teams locked horns and was eventually decided the match in sudden death by 9-8.

Bishal Shrestha was the unluckiest player from B13 to miss the penalty in sudden death. Both teams scored 4 goals each in regular penalty kick and the match was forced to sudden death.

The winning team was awarded one lakh twenty-five thousands Rupee, along with trophy medal and certificates.

The losing side received sixty-five thousands. Heman Gurung of Sahara was declared the payer of the tournament. Dilip Chettri of B13 was declared the best goalie, Bijaya Shrestha of Sahara was the best forward, Hari Gurung of B13 was adjudged the best defender, while Sahara’s Piyush Henry was declared the highest goal scorer of the tournament.

The winning team and the players were awarded by Kaski’s Parliament member Man Bahadur Gurung, Regional Football Association’s President Khem Bahadur Gurung, Pokhara Metropolitan Ward No. 13’s President Darshan Lama and several others distributed prizes in the closing ceremony.
