18th Lishnu cup got underway on Saturday in Rupandehi district.

Hosts Lishnu yuwa club defeated Desbhakta yuwa club 3-2 in the opening match.

Rupesh Thapa, Anuj Thapa and Abhisek Limbu scored apiece for the winners. Kamal Thapa scored both goals for the losing side.

Bhairav FC will play against Jharna Sports club on Sunday.

16 teams are participating in the championship, which has a winning purse of Rs 3 lakh. Runners up team will get Rs 1,50,000.
