Kathmandu, April 23 – Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and world-renowned Brazilian footballer Roberto Carlos, who is currently visiting Nepal, held a meeting at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Oli welcomed the 2002 FIFA World Cup winner with a traditional Dhaka topi, a gesture symbolizing Nepali hospitality and culture. According to the Prime Minister's Secretariat, Oli expressed a keen interest in Carlos's illustrious football career and shared his admiration for the Brazilian star's contribution to the sport.

Prime Minister Oli also reiterated the government’s commitment to the development of football in Nepal. "The arrival of world-class athletes like Roberto Carlos gives new energy and encouragement to our sports sector," he said.

Carlos arrived in Kathmandu on Tuesday following an invitation to witness the ongoing Nepal Super League (NSL) 2025. He is scheduled to attend the second qualifier match of the tournament on Wednesday at Dasharath Stadium. The highly anticipated fixture will see Dhangadhi FC face Pokhara Thunders at 6 PM, with a spot in the NSL final at stake.

Roberto Carlos’s visit has generated immense excitement among Nepali football fans and is seen as a significant boost to the growing football culture in the country.
