Nepal Police Club has secured its place in the quarterfinals of the ongoing 23rd edition of the Aha Rara Pokhara Gold Cup.
In the ongoing competition organized by Sahara Club Pokhara, the APF Club of the Armed Police beat the other departmental team Nepal Police Club 2-0 on Friday.
Both goals for Police Club were scored by Maan Bahadur Pariyar. He scored the first goal in the 19th minute. Pratap Gurung's shot from a little beyond the D-box showed the way to the goal through his head.
Similarly, he scored the second goal in the 71st minute of the game through a header again. He scored the ball that rebounded after hitting the goal post.
Police keeper Shatrudhan Choudhary thwarted the attempts of APF, who are also the winners of the 20th edition of the title. In the 33rd minute of the match, Pradap Lama's shot hit the crossbar and APF missed the equalizer. Pradeep got another opportunity in the corner kick and saved the attempt to score with the head by the keeper Shatrudhan.
The club's general secretary Ramji Prasad Adhikari said that the first quaterfinal match will be held on Saturday. The foreign visiting team Bhutan's Paro FC will face Nepali A Division club Three star club.
Paro FC has come to participate in Aha Rara Pokhara Gold Cup for the first time. When Paro FC landed on the field of Pokhara for the first time, the organizers expected that the three-star match would be spectacular as they defeated the host Sahara 2-1 in the pre-quarters.
