News Jhapa: Arjundhara Sporting Club Defend Nawa Yuwa Gold Cup Title

Arjundhara Sporting Club have won the title of the second Nawa Yuwa Gold Cup held at Arjundhara in Jhapa on the occasion of Dashain, the festival of Nepalese. In the final at the Arjundhara ground, Arjundhara defended the title by shocking the competitors Birtamod United 2-0..

Bikash Khawas and Saurabh Limbu scored for the hosts Arjundhara. Arjundhara, who had home supporters' backing at home, grabbed the title for the second time running. Saurabh Limbu of the organizers was declared the man of the match. Suren Rai, a young businessman, gave him Rs. 1,500 in cash. 

The hosts dominated the individual awards of the tournament. Ajis Khadka was declared the best defender of the tournament, Roman Bhujel was declared the best midfielder, Nischal Basnet was named the rising player and Pujan Rai was the top scorer of the tournament. Similarly, Shyam Murmu became the player of the Tournament when Sanjay Gurung of the hosts was declared the best goalkeeper. They received Rs. 3,000 each.

Local ex-players and land donors were honored at the closing ceremony of the tournament jointly organized by Nawa Yuwa Club and Arjundhara Sporting Club.

The former players Dhan Bahadur Kafle, Khus Bahadur Khadka and Krishna Bahadur Thapa, while the land donor Bhim Kafle were honored by Baldev Singh Gomden, head of Arjundhara Municipality.

The winners and runners-up of the Gold Cup, which started on Ashoj 9 received one lakh one thousand one rupees and fifty-one thousand and one rupees in cash respectively.
